Song Of The Week - 03/30/12

If Shirley Jackson's short story "The Lottery" has taught me anything, it's that you don't actually want to win the lottery.  Unless, of course, being stoned to death by townsfolk is your thing.  But with all the talk of Mega Millions, I can't help but daydream a little about what life would be like if I became an overnight millionaire.  I wonder...

Song Of The Week - 03/23/12

My apologies for posting the Song Of The Week in such belated fashion.  You see, I was on my way to Oregon when I came down with a rough case of yellow fever.  Fortunately I managed to recover in time to post this only a few days behind schedule.  On the other hand, Ol' Festus, my best ox, well, he wasn't so lucky...if only I hadn't tried to ford that river.

Song Of The Week - 03/16/12

Well, March Madness has officially begun, and my only thought is that the term itself sounds more like Medieval slang for syphilis than a basketball tournament.  But with record numbers of college students crowding fevered arenas across the nation, I may not be too far off base in my assessment.

Song Of The Week - 03/09/12

Hey, guys, did you hear the news?  It's all over Facebook that Apollo Creed is leading a guerrilla army of children in East Africa.  I know what you're thinking, "hey, wasn't he pummeled to death by Ivan Drago in Rocky IV?"  That's what he wanted you to think, you fools!  It was all an elaborate scheme to escape the extreme fame and wealth he had accumulated as a pugilist to live out his violent, militaristic fetish of being a warlord in the forests of Uganda.  This whole situation is pretty much the extreme polar opposite of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and like most problems in the world, we can somehow find a way to tie it back to the Soviets.  Draaaaaaggggoooo!!!

Welcome to Funk Nouveau!

Well, here you are, staring at the inaugural posting on my brand spankin' new blog.  You must be asking yourself, "Why now did this self-important egomaniac decide to enter the blog-o-sphere?"  First, that's a great question, and second, I need to provide you with a little context.
