This week, electronic music lovers such as myself were delighted to find that Robert Moog's legacy was being celebrated in the form of a Google Doodle. He was a true pioneer, inventing the famed synthesizer that shares his name and building a company that remains on the forefront of waveform synthesis. I can't think of a better way to remember his contributions than to share this funk-filled electro throwback courtesy of Brooklyn-based Chrome Canyon. Long live the Moog synthesizer!
Chrome Canyon - Computers Of Love
Normally I use this space to write a short snippet about the artist of the Song Of The Week. The problem is that this time, I don't have much information, so I'm left with no choice but to make up an origin story. Chrome Canyon was actually spawned in an underground laboratory, the end result of a secret government initiative to perfect artificial funktelligence. The problem, of course, is that the funk cannot be artificially created, it is a natural essence, and when it was injected into test robot CC808, he became a sentient boogie being. Yeah, I know, that's basically the storyline for Short Circuit, but hey, nobody ever accused me of being creative. Have a safe and enjoyable Memorial Day weekend!
