Song Of The Week - 04/20/12

It's that time when masses descend upon southern California for two weekends filled with blockbuster musical acts and an overall lack of personal hygiene.  Much of the buzz at this year's Coachella Festival has been about the surprise appearance of Tupac Shakur, though many of the hipsters in attendance gave the performance lackluster reviews.  One horn-rimmed bespectacled audience member was quoted as saying, "Princess Leia did the holographic thing before it was cool, now everyone's doing it."  You heard it here first, people, posthumous holograms are officially OVER!

Jupiter - One O Six

As a DJ, I can attest to the fact that an empty dancefloor rarely leads to anything other than a bruised ego.  However, when Quarles Baseden and Amélie de Bosredon were the last ones remaining after an obscure retro hit cleared out the other partygoers, Jupiter was born.  Since their fateful club encounter, they have become blog darlings and mainstays in the Kitsuné stable, releasing several EPs and remixing the likes of Anoraak, Metronomy, and Two Door Cinema Club.  Their latest offering, "One O Six", features strong remix support, and luckily for DJs everywhere, promises to keep feet firmly planted on the dancefloor where they belong.
